IT Leadership and Support
Leer is a long-time freelance musician and arranger with several published arrangements and extensive experience in many genres and ensembles, specializing in big band, jazz, and musical theater. I have worked as a freelance musician for nearly 25 years on bass and cello, directed a big band for several years as bassist and bandleader, and performed in more than 40 musicals amassing over 1,000 individual performances.
Additionally, I've been working as a semi-professional photographer since 2020 with a particular fondness for family and pet photography, professional headshots, and concerts. Traveling to new locations for interesting session concepts and special moments make photography rewarding, including red-eye flights to NYC to capture a young couple's engagement.
Technology is also a large part of my identity, from troubleshooting and repair to consulting, infrastructure upgrades, security access management, and IT leadership. With a strong emphasis on Healthcare IT, I can be confident that my skills are being utilized to help where it counts; supporting providers and clinical care staff in their efforts to care for and heal patients.
Bassist, cellist, arranger, music director, working throughout the greater Detroit and Ann Arbor metropolitan areas and beyond. Leer has been performing and arranging since 2001 for weddings, musical theater, jazz and big band ensembles, orchestras, and various other ensembles and is a heavily sought-after freelance bassist. His arrangements have been published for sale and custom arrangements are frequently requested for weddings and special occasions. Among his frequent collaborators are:
I have several published arrangements for string quartet, big band, wedding musicians, and other small ensembles. Please take a look at my available arrangements and feel free to reach out to me via the Contact form if you have any questions or commission requests.
Originally a COVID shutdown-era hobby, I have been working semi-professionally as a photographer since late-2020, specializing in headshots, pet photography, engagements, and drone photography. I am currently studying for my commercial drone pilot license and expect to be certified in early 2025.
My grandfather taught me everything he knew about computers, ending around Windows 98SE and dial-up networking, but all the way back to Atari home computers, early videos games, programming in BASIC, and soldering components and chips instead of replacing entire pieces of equipment. From there I started breaking things in high school and fixing them, circumventing network restrictions, and receiving pages from the office to explain how and why I'd run scripts that were supposedly blocked.
From there, I started my first support job at the college help desk removing viruses, reimaging computers, and installing security software. That grew into hardware repairs, one-on-one support with faculty and staff, and eventually onsite and remote support for MSP's and hospital systems. Most recently I have been the IT director of a small museum system that received a complete infrastructure upgrade, the technology and media coordinator of a church where I organized volunteer resources and implemented livestream technology solutions, and the regional field service lead for a group of women's health clinics across Michigan.
My skills have shifted heavily toward healthcare IT, cyber security, and infrastructure and networking and I'm looking to move into more leadership and directorial roles where I can not only implement change but help focus organizations on the new realities of the cyber security landscape.
